Everything You Need to Know
Saureel Vineyards was thoughtfully designed to host weddings of up to 150 guests. For larger celebrations, we can accommodate up to 225 guests for an additional fee of $35 per guest above 150. For our Sunday Under the Oak Package, the maximum capacity is 100 guests. There is no minimum guest count: from romantic micro weddings and elopements to full-scale celebrations, we customize a package that fits your vision.
Absolutely. Tours generally last 30 to 45 minutes and are by appointment, with private tours preferred. Sundays are our primary tour days, and we offer select weekday evening appointments to accommodate work schedules. We also offer personalized virtual tours via Google Meet or FaceTime. We recommend that everyone involved in the venue decision attend.
Most couples reserve their wedding date 12 to 18 months in advance, especially for peak season and popular weekends. We also accommodate shorter timelines when availability allows, and have hosted beautiful weddings booked just 3 to 6 months in advance.
Absolutely. Our team works with you to design a layout that complements your wedding style, guest count, and event flow. You’re welcome to incorporate your own decor, hire your preferred designer or florist, or take advantage of our curated collection of complimentary venue decor. We provide sample floor plans with various ceremony and reception layout options.
Absolutely. Saureel Vineyards proudly welcomes couples and celebrations of all backgrounds, traditions, cultures, and faiths. Whether you’re planning an elegant black-tie affair, a rustic vineyard wedding, a cultural celebration, or a completely custom theme, our planning team will bring your vision to life.
Yes. Our Saureel Estate Weekend Package includes a one-hour guided ceremony rehearsal followed by a complimentary three-hour welcome dinner or rehearsal gathering for up to 40 guests. Many couples also end their weekend with a morning-after mimosa brunch overlooking the vineyard.
Yes. The Lakehouse includes a private bridal salon with 3 mirrored make-up counters, a dress rack, and a full-length mirror, plus a groom’s room and changing areas for the wedding party. The couple stays at the Lakehouse on the evening of the wedding.
We are a venue, not a catering company, which gives you the flexibility to choose the catering experience that best fits your event. We provide a carefully curated list of Preferred Catering Partners, and you’re welcome to request approval for an outside caterer. Every caterer must provide full-service food and beverage staffing throughout the event; if yours doesn’t, J. Marie Events can provide Food & Beverage Event Support for an additional fee.
No. We do not require a food or beverage minimum. You are free to select the caterer and menu that best fits your vision and budget while meeting our service requirements. We also accommodate cultural and traditional cuisine through your caterer.
Yes. Couples are welcome to provide their own beer, wine, champagne, and spirits. All alcohol must be served by a licensed and properly insured bartending service; if you don’t have one, we’re happy to recommend trusted professionals, and we can offer bar service if you cannot find one. Alcohol service follows the 10 PM cutoff.
We do not have a commercial kitchen. The venue was designed to accommodate professional off-site caterers who arrive fully self-contained, with potable water and vendor support available on-site. Most weddings feature double-sided buffet service, though plated dinners, family-style, and stations are welcome.
Absolutely. We do not provide wedding cakes or desserts, giving you complete freedom to work with any licensed bakery or dessert designer you’d like. Please discuss cake cutting, utensils, and plate needs with your caterer.
The weekend package runs Friday 4pm check-in through Sunday 11am check-out, with 6 hours of event time and all-day setup access. The Sunday package runs 1pm to 8pm. Events conclude by 10 PM per the county noise ordinance; overtime is $500 with preapproval and never later than 10 PM.
Yes. We host one event per day, and you have exclusive use of the venue on your wedding day.
Yes. There is ample free parking within a few yards of the event space, with a secure area for 200 vehicles, so no valet is needed. The venue is ADA compliant with 9 bathroom stalls including ADA, plus dedicated restrooms for the couple, and we happily assist elderly or disabled guests on our golf cart.
We watch, we plan, and we execute. All back-up options are a coordinated effort between venue, coordinator, and couple. Tenting is suggested and we explain the process based on your guest count and forecast; tent rentals are the client’s responsibility with full coordination support. We have successfully executed multiple rainy day events with around 150 guests, moving ceremonies indoors without affecting the reception setup. Patio heaters, misters, and coolers are available, and we have backup generators.
No, please check with your DJ or emcee. For intimate events under 35 guests you may bring your own music, but DJs are required for events over 35 guests. The venue comfortably accommodates DJs and live bands.
The Lakehouse is included for the couple, and we provide a list of nearby hotels, B&Bs, and vacation rentals. Rideshares are not reliably available in the area, so we recommend shuttles from our Preferred Vendor List. The El Dorado Stay & Play Shuttle Program contributes up to $1,000 toward shuttle costs based on room nights booked in El Dorado County.
Venue staff place tables and event infrastructure, while the couple is responsible for linens and decor with support from the Day-of Coordinator and event staff. After the celebration, our team fully breaks down your event and organizes your personal items, decor, and gifts for pick-up.
To reserve your wedding date, a non-refundable $2,000 initial retainer is required. Within 60 days, payments should total 50% of the venue investment. The remaining balance, along with a $1,000 refundable security deposit, is due 90 days prior to your wedding date. We offer flexible payment schedules, and accepted payment methods are reviewed before your contract is finalized.
No. Additional charges only apply for guests beyond 150 ($35 per guest), or Food & Beverage Event Support if your caterer does not provide full staffing. The $1,000 security deposit is refunded without incident. Prices do not include gratuity. Military and first responder discounts of 5% are available.
Dates are sold on a limited annual calendar, so cancellations are not refundable. If we can support you with an alternative date, or if we are able to resell your date, we may reimburse you less administrative fees. We are flexible with guest count changes after booking.
Clients maintain Comprehensive or Commercial General Liability insurance of not less than $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate, naming Saureel Vineyards LLC and Timothy S. Sauer as Additional Insured, with evidence no less than 5 working days before the event. Vendors must carry General Liability and, if they have staff, Workers’ Compensation insurance.
Please no nails, confetti, rice, or fake petals, and no damage to the barn. Real candles must be contained in glass, cold sparklers only for exits, and all throws must be fresh and degradable within two weeks. You may borrow from our on-site decor inventory of lighting, candle holders, and vases.
Children are welcomed but must be supervised by a designated adult, and the Lakehouse is always the plan for kids with childcare needs. Couples’ pets are allowed with pre-approval (one animal), service animals are accepted and expected, and vendors with animals such as beer donkeys are welcomed.
Yes. You can reserve time for engagement or bridal photo sessions at the venue before the wedding day at no fee, and there are no photography or videography restrictions, including flash and drone usage.
