VINEYARDS
History: Saureel Vineyards is located in the Sierra Foothills of Northern California within a 148 acre ranch in which 35 acres is planted in mostly eclectic and rare Rhone varietals.
Location: 1,650’ elevation in the Gold Hill District in the town of Placerville, CA. The vineyard is widely known to exist in the “banana belt” region of El Dorado County which cools off nicely at night with air drainage to the American River.
Planting: The vineyard is planted 5’ x 9’ spacing and trellissed to VSP.
Soils: Decomposed granite. Historically, the present site was a vineyard in the 1870’s but was converted to cherries in the 1920’s, pears in the 1970’s, and the current vineyard was planted in 2016/2017.
